Finance is Fashionable
As an example, portfolio management and finance, like fashion, is ever-changing. What’s in vogue one season may be old the next. An individual security may be “beautiful or sought after” during one economic cycle, and out of fashion during the following cycle. Our favorite analogy is a closet. You don’t have only one kind of black shoe in your closet, you have blues ones, white and brown. You have heels and flats and flip-flops. The same is true with your clothing. Is every shirt or blouse white or every trouser or pant striped?
